GENERAL QUESTIONS
Dry and wet dog and cat food only. While we can accept treats, we prefer food as treats are not nutritionally adequate for meals.
We cannot accept frozen or refrigerated products as we cannot store them.
We receive twice the dog food that we do cat food. When in doubt, please donate cat food.
We accept pet food within one year of the sell by date. If you wouldn’t feed it to your pet, please think twice about donating it.
Because of concerns for the health and safety of the pets of our clients, we are leery of accepting open bags. If the food is in the original container and labeled with donor name and phone number, we will evaluate the food prior to discarding.
Dry food that is not within its original container cannot be accepted as we cannot check the expiration nor the recall status. Cans dented near the top or bottom seams or that have obviously been punctured are not accepted. This is for the health and safety of our clients’ pets.
We do not accept these types of donations. Consider donating to a local shelter or rescue.
If you would like to donate new slip-leads, collapsible bowls, and/or waste bags please see our Amazon Wish List as we use these items in our Maverick Fund kits.
We need gallon-size, zipper-style plastic bags, like Ziploc® bags. We use these for breaking down large bags of dry food into manageable sizes. You can see all our needs on our Amazon Wish List, including office supplies, etc.
While we work with other organizations to distribute pet food, Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank, Inc. is a stand-alone agency with our own board of directors, staff, funding, and 501(c)(3) status. DF2FM is a food bank that supplies pet food to food pantries; currently the only pet food bank in North Texas.
A food bank is the storehouse for food and other products that go out to the community. A food pantry functions as the arms that reach out to that community directly.
Yes, Don’t Forget to Feed Me is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization as recognized by the IRS. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
If you make a monetary donation, we will send you a donation receipt via email or mail upon request.
If you donate pet food, this is considered an in-kind donation. We can issue a receipt if you supply us with your name and mailing address. Legally, we cannot assign a dollar value to goods donated in-kind. Please retain your purchase receipt for pet food donated and consult your tax professional.
Due to the tremendous need and unique service offered, we have a waitlist for new partners. Please email operations@dontforgettofeedme.org and ask for an application to be on the waitlist.
DISTRIBUTION QUESTIONS
Each distribution partner uses different schedules and has different documentation/identification requirements for client assistance. Please contact your chosen distribution partner for these answers.
Each distribution partner has different rules about where you need to live to get assistance. We suggest contacting the distribution partner closest to your place of residence.
All of our distribution partners serve many, many deserving clients every day. To ensure fairness and that their supply of pet food goes to the most people possible, they portion out the pet food. If you feel that you have a special case and need more food than they provided to you, please contact the distribution partner and ask to speak to someone who can help with this issue.
Pet food received via DF2FM is meant to keep pets in their homes and should not be used for strays, feral colonies, fosters, etc. While we understand the need, we have limited resources and must stay within our mission. Please contact the appropriate agencies for assistance.

We give what we have. We cannot guarantee any brand or type of pet food nor can we provide prescription diets as we do not have a veterinarian on staff.
Don’t Forget to Feed Me does not deliver pet food to clients. We simply do not have the resources, volunteers, staff, funding, transportation, etc. to do this. Some partners may deliver (Meals on Wheels, Community Link, etc.). We suggest you contact your distribution partner to inquire further.
Each of our distribution partners has their own rules about picking up pet food for another individual.
